About Neal

Empowering Students through Social-Emotional Learning

Neal is a dedicated professional who holds an Ed.M in School Counseling from Rutgers University, along with a Certificate in Social-Emotional Character Development (SECD). With a passion for fostering academic, career, and social-emotional growth in students, Neal has gained extensive experience as a School Counselor and teacher.

Throughout his career, Neal has worked with students individually and in group settings, both virtually and in-person, to address their unique needs. Drawing upon his training in Restorative Justice, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), Mindfulness, and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Neal has delivered engaging SEL lessons to large and small groups. He understands the importance of these critical components in fostering a positive school culture and climate, aligning with the comprehensive school counseling program rooted in the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) framework.

Inspired by his work with business leaders, Neal recognized the significant need for a greater emphasis on SEL, behavioral skills, and character development in the classroom. This realization motivated him to bring Social-Emotional Learning to his students in Richmond, CA. In the process, Neal identified a lack of accessible, evidence-based resources specifically designed for low SES students and schools.

Driven by the desire to bridge this gap, Neal established this website as a platform to provide teachers and counselors with high-quality resources that can be implemented independently or collaboratively. The resources offered here are grounded in research, ensuring their effectiveness and practicality.

Through this website, Neal aims to empower educators and counselors with the tools they need to support their students’ social-emotional growth, well-being, and success. By sharing evidence-based strategies, lesson plans, and activities, Neal is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of students from all backgrounds.

Join Neal on this journey of empowering students through Social-Emotional Learning, and together, let’s create an inclusive and nurturing educational environment.
